Book Review: A Boy Called Christmas
What a lovely book to read during the holiday season… or any season for that matter! I received this as a free audiobook and now, having listened to it will be rushing out to buy a copy or two or three. As a lifelong devout lover of Christmas, this book felt as though it was written specifically for me. I think the best way to describe this story would be a winning combination of Harry Potter, L. Frank Baum, and J.R.R. Tolkien, set during and around Christmastime, and then throw in a charming sense of humor to top it off.
It is also a wonderful critique of the media, politics, and where we are and what we value as a society, and where most of us probably wish it could be.
In addition, I think it worth mentioning that the audiobook is narrated by the wonderful Stephen Fry, which probably also lent a little Harry Potter magic to the book as well (for those who don’t know, the UK HP audiobooks are narrated by Stephen Fry and are fantastic!).
So, I would heartily recommend, no, encourage, everyone who breathes and who has blood flowing through their veins, to read this book! If the whole world thought for even just a moment how Father Christmas does, we would all be the better for it.
